Vidami Setup Guide

Welcome to Vidami.

This guide will help you connect your Vidami controller and install the correct Vidami browser extension for your device.

Start Here

First, choose your Vidami controller:

Original USB Vidami
For Mac or Windows computers only. Connects by USB cable.

Vidami Blue
For Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Connects by Bluetooth.

IMPORTANT: If you are using Vidami with YouTube, please use YouTube in a supported web browser, not the YouTube app.

1. Connect Your Vidami Controller

Original USB Vidami

Use these instructions if you have the Original Vidami controller with a USB cable.

  1. Plug your Vidami controller directly into your computer’s USB port.
  2. If your computer does not have a standard USB-A port, use a compatible USB adapter.
  3. Wait a few seconds for your computer to recognize the controller.
  4. No Bluetooth pairing is needed.

The Original USB Vidami is now connected. Next, install the correct Vidami browser extension for the browser you use.

Vidami Blue

Use these instructions if you have the Vidami Blue wireless controller.

Important: Vidami Blue can only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time. If your Vidami Blue was previously connected to another phone, tablet, or computer, please turn Bluetooth off on that other device before connecting Vidami Blue to the device you want to use now.

Vidami Blue on Mac

  1. Open System Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth.
  3. Turn on your Vidami Blue.
  4. When Vidami Blue appears, click Connect or Pair.
  5. The blue Bluetooth light should flash while pairing and become solid once connected.

Vidami Blue on Windows PC

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth & devices.
  3. Turn on your Vidami Blue.
  4. Choose Add device if needed.
  5. When Vidami Blue appears, choose Connect or Pair.
  6. The blue Bluetooth light should flash while pairing and become solid once connected.

Vidami Blue on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth.
  3. Turn on your Vidami Blue.
  4. When Vidami Blue appears, tap it to connect.
  5. The blue Bluetooth light should flash while pairing and become solid once connected.

Vidami Blue on Android

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Bluetooth or Connected devices.
  3. Turn on your Vidami Blue.
  4. Choose Pair new device if needed.
  5. When Vidami Blue appears, tap it to connect.
  6. The blue Bluetooth light should flash while pairing and become solid once connected.

2. Install the Vidami Browser Extension

Choose the browser and device you plan to use.

Chrome on Mac or Windows

Use this if you use Google Chrome on a Mac or Windows computer.

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  3. Search for Vidami for Chrome - Desktop.
  4. Click Add to Chrome.
  5. If a popup appears asking you to identify your keyboard, close that popup without pressing any keys.
  6. Restart your computer.
  7. Open YouTube in Chrome at youtube.com.
  8. Click once on the YouTube video page.
  9. Test your Vidami controller.

Safari on Mac

Use this if you use Safari on a Mac.

  1. Open the Mac App Store.
  2. Search for Vidami for Safari - Desktop.
  3. Install the app.
  4. Open Safari.
  5. Go to Safari > Settings > Extensions.
  6. Make sure Vidami for Safari is enabled.
  7. Open YouTube in Safari at youtube.com.
  8. Allow the Vidami extension to work on YouTube.
  9. Restart your computer.
  10. Open YouTube again in Safari and test your Vidami controller.

Safari Permissions for YouTube and All Other Websites

If you are using the Safari browser, please note that Apple requires you to make Permissions Settings to allow the Vidami and other extensions to interact with websites.

Safari on iPhone or iPad

Use this if you use Vidami Blue with Safari on iPhone or iPad.

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for Vidami for Safari - iOS.
  3. Install the app.
  4. Open Safari.
  5. Go to youtube.com.
  6. Allow the Vidami extension to work in Safari if prompted.
  7. Make sure Vidami is allowed for youtube.com.
  8. Test your Vidami Blue on a YouTube video in Safari.

IMPORTANT: If you are using Vidami Blue with YouTube, please use YouTube in a supported web browser, not the YouTube app.

Firefox on Mac or Windows

Use this if you use Firefox on a Mac or Windows computer.

  1. Open Firefox.
  2. Go to Firefox Add-ons.
  3. Search for Vidami - Desktop.
  4. Install the extension.
  5. Restart Firefox.
  6. Open YouTube at youtube.com.
  7. Click once on the YouTube video page.
  8. Test your Vidami controller.

Firefox on Android

Use this if you use Vidami Blue with an Android phone or tablet.

  1. Open Firefox on your Android device.
  2. Go to Firefox Add-ons.
  3. Search for Vidami - Android.
  4. Install the add-on.
  5. Open YouTube at youtube.com in Firefox.
  6. Test your Vidami Blue on a YouTube video.

Reminder: Use YouTube in Firefox, not the YouTube app.

3. Quick Connection Test

After setup, you can confirm that your Vidami controller is connected and sending commands correctly.

  1. Open a blank text field, such as:
    • TextEdit on Mac
    • Notepad on Windows
    • Notes on iPhone or iPad
    • The address bar of your browser
  2. Press each Vidami switch.

In Video Control Mode, you should see these characters:

Back = [
Play/Pause = K
Forward = ]
Speed = `
Loop = ;

If you see those characters, your Vidami controller is connected and sending commands correctly.

You can now return to YouTube or another supported video-learning website and begin using Vidami.

4. If Your Vidami Is Not Working

If you have the Original USB Vidami

Please check the following:

  1. Make sure the USB cable is firmly connected.
  2. If you are using an adapter, make sure the adapter supports data and is not only for charging.
  3. Try unplugging the controller and plugging it back in.
  4. Restart your browser.
  5. Restart your computer if needed.

If you have Vidami Blue

Please check the following:

  1. Make sure Vidami Blue is connected to the device you are using now.
  2. Make sure it is not still connected to another phone, tablet, or computer.
  3. Turn Bluetooth off on other nearby devices that have previously connected to Vidami Blue.
  4. Turn Vidami Blue off for 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
  5. Reconnect Vidami Blue in your device’s Bluetooth settings.
  6. Restart your browser.
  7. Restart your device if needed.

5. You’re Ready to Use Vidami

Once your controller is connected and the correct browser extension is installed, open YouTube or another supported video-learning website in your browser.

Click once on the video page, then use your Vidami controller to control playback hands-free.
